Sleep Cycle is one of the most popular sleep tracking apps out there and for good reason. The apps uses the phone’s accelerometer to record your sleeping habits and saves them to the app and they can be viewed in very easy to read and understand graphs that shows you how long you slept, any sleep disturbances and gives you a sleep quality rating as well. The app also doesn’t have a traditional alarm, but instead it has you set a period of say 10 minutes or so, and it will wake you up somewhere in that range in which you are most “awake” and thus will make the waking up process much better.

This app is great as not only is it a sleep tracking app, but it has a number of other great functions as well, both for sleep and working out. For instance, the app also comes with a heart rate monitor and a pedometer and has a number of trackable and customizable features and even integrates Apple’s Health app.  While some of the sleep-related features may not be as crisp as sleep cycle, this app includes a noise-activated sound recorder that will record late night wakeups and other disturbances that it picks up.
