The ideal about of sleep is about 7-8 hours, however, the hours you’re asleep BEFORE midnight is what really benefits our health and therefore, our appearance. Another major key when it comes to improving dark under-eye circles, and our skin in general, is to ensure that we’re staying hydrated at all times. To ensure that you’re staying hydrated, be sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. When you’re properly hydrated your urine should be the color of hay and you should be urinating often, this will be annoying at first, but your body will adjust. With lot’s of rest and proper hydration, your dark circles will be diminished in no time.

Almond Oil is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of dark circles under your eyes. Apply a bit of almond oil under your eyes and massage it gently into the skin before you go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, wash the oil off with cool water and repeat the process nightly for as long as it takes to achieve the results you’re looking for. Almond oil is an anti-inflammatory so it’s the perfect natural remedy for dark circles and puffy eyes. As well as having anti-inflammatory properties, almond oil also contains vitamin K which helps to reduce discoloration and it helps to contract dilated blood vessels under the skin that may be causing added darkness.

3. Cucumber

We’ve all seen the cucumber trick on tv and in movies but did you know that it actually works? Cut cucumbers into thick slices and chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before laying them on top of your dark circles. Remove the cucumber slices after about 10 minutes and rinse the area with water. Repeat this process twice a day for about a week or until your dark circles are gone! The reason why cucumber is so effective in removing dark circles is because it contains natural skin-lightening properties. Another amazing effect of cucumber is it’s cooling properties that discourage fluid from building up under your eyes, which can contribute to those unwanted dark circles.

4. Potato

Potatoes contain a number of things that help to reduce dark circles such as skin-lightening components, starch to reduce inflammation, and anti-oxidants to stimulate smoothness and firmness. Similar to the cucumber trick, cut two thick slices of potato and chill them before applying them to your under-eye for approx. 20 minutes before removing them and rinsing with cool water. Repeat this process 3 times a week until desired results are achieved. An alternative to potato slices is grating a potato and straining the juice from the potato. After straining, cool the juice in the refrigerator, and apply it to your face using soaked cotton balls. Allow the juice to sit for 15 minutes and then rinse your eyelids with cool water, repeat daily until desired results are achieved.

5. Tomato

Do this twice a day for a few weeks to completely destroy any darkness around your eyes. Tomato is best known in skin care for it’s lightening properties which make it the ideal ingredient to use in order to get rid of dark circles.
