You don’t need to travel to Hawaii for incredible ahi poke; bring the beautiful island flavors to your own kitchen. Soy-sauce, ginger, sriracha and fresh ahi are some of the best creations in life, when it comes to food anyway. Mix it all together to create magic in your mouth! No need for a frightening bill out at a sushi restaurant either. Ahi poke bowls are easier to prepare than you think! The most important part of this meal is finding fresh fish. Sushi-grade ahi is the way to go! It melts in your mouth! Hope you enjoy the best ahi poke bowl you’ve ever had with this super simple and healthy recipe!

Ingredients:

1 lb fresh ahi steaks cut into cubes (preferably sushi grade)
¼ cup diced green onions
¼ cup diced onion
2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
2 tsp minced fresh ginger
¼ cup soy sauce
3 tsp of sesame seed oil
1 tsp of siracha
dash of sea salt
fresh ginger for garnish

Other ingredients to add a little flare to your bowl:

1 chopped avocado
½ cup diced cucumber
¼ cup diced pineapple
¼ cup diced mango

How to make it:

Chop up the fresh ahi steaks into bite-sized cubes and set aside. In a clean mixing bowl, whisk the soy sauce, sesame seed oil, sriracha, ginger, onions and sesame seeds. Place the fresh ahi cubes in a bowl and pour the sauce over the fish. Mix the ahi until the pieces are well coated with the marinade. Top with a dash of sea salt to taste and mix in the green onions. Cover your masterpiece and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours prior to serving. If you are adding any extra “flare toppings” like avocado, pineapple, mango or cucumber, mix them in at the end. Enjoy over brown rice or if you are watching your carbs, serve the ahi poke in half of an avocado! Top with fresh ginger and of course, don’t forget your chopsticks!
