Sometimes, it is hard to tell what is correct from what is wrong. In an effort to help, here are three fitness myths you should not fall for.

1. Weight Training Will Make Women Bulky

For some reason, some women think that if they even touch a weight, they will instantly turn into Arnold Schwarzenegger. That is simply not the case, obviously. Men produce about 10 times more testosterone then women and it still take men months and even years of hard work to get huge muscles. Lifting weights as a women won’t make you huge, but instead, will give you a toned physique and the other health benefits that come along with weight lifting.

2. If You Don’t Feel Like Crap After a Workout, You Didn’t Work Hard Enough

For some people, they feel a workout just wasn’t worth it unless they are a sweaty heap on the ground, but that is not true. While fully exerting yourself here and there is good, you really shouldn’t be doing it every day as it can really increase your chance of an injury and can really tire you out too. While you should feel tired and/or satisfied after a workout, it isn’t necessary that you completely exhaust yourself every time.

It really is a shame that so many people think one of the best exercises out there is bad for you. The squat is an exercise that can essentially work on your whole body, but is one of the best things to tone and strengthen your lower body specifically. For years they have gotten a bad rep for being potentially damaging to your knees. But that is wrong. As long as you are squatting deep and utilizing good form, you should experience no knee problems at all.
