No one on earth can see the future. Because of this fact, our future is always unknown, no matter how sure we are of certain things. No matter how much we would like to know how our lives will turn out and what the future holds, we can’t. This means we have to be comfortable with the unknown, and these three tips can help.

In life, we fairly frequently overlook doing the small and easy things in life that can help us because we are busy worrying about the bigger things that we have no control of. In life, we should all be doing all we can to ensure we are at our best right now, and let the rest take care of itself. While you can plan for the future, don’t obsess over it and try to worry about things you can control and change.

2. Be Prepared

While you shouldn’t obsess about the future, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t think about it from time to time and plan/be prepared for the future. But the key here isn’t to plan for a specific scenario or event, but instead to plan for a variety of scenarios if possible. This could be anything from making sure you have enough money saved up to making sure have the right connections in life. Being prepared for the unknown and obsessing over the unknown are two totally different things.

3. Be Confident in Your Abilities to Cope and Adapt in life

This isn’t about “expecting the worst”, it is more about being prepared and confident in your ability to deal with the worst if it happens. If you are well adept at coping with troubles and adapting when things go wrong, you will be much better off than those who aren’t. Defensive pessimism is very helpful here and can works wonders. It basically means you consider the worst case scenario and plan how you could handle it.
