Buzzwords have been around since before we called them buzzwords. Before the internet, expressions made their way via the telephone or television. Before that, they probably traveled by train and horse. Considering the modern speed of information, one would think phrases would mature faster, but they seem to go the other way. They rot like leftovers shoved to the back of the fridge. You keep avoiding the ever-changing Tupperware of shame, unsure what you would do with it if you pulled it out. Throw it out? Then the whole house would stink. Better to leave it there, like some of these words and phrases. They’re rotting in our collective fridge, preserved perfectly for all time. It’s time someone cleaned out the refrigerator.
