Not only is having a good and healthy posture good for your body and spine, it also conveys a better message to everyone you come in contact with. A slouching posture is never a good thing, and if you want to improve your posture, check out these helpful tips that could have a lasting effect on your body in a positive way.
1. Be Conscious and Vigilant
It is important to always keep your eyes open to people around you and see what they are doing. If someone you know has awful posture, identify what they do and try to avoid it. On the other hand, if they have great posture, it could be wise to see what they do to maintain it or even ask them. Also, don’t only be conscious of others, but yourself. We can fall into bad posture habits if we don’t work at it. Always be vigilant about how you are sitting or standing to make sure it is a healthy way to be.
2. “Open Up”
The fact that a majority of people out there sit hunched over a desk in an office for 8 hours a day has done terrible things to the posture of the public. Back problems are running rampant and a lot of it is likely due to the fact we are all so stationary and don’t move or stretch very often. A few times a day, it is a great idea to “open up” and do some stretching, take a walk or just change up your body positon and move around a bit. This is especially important for those who sit or stand in uncomfortable and unnatural positions for long periods of time.
3. Train Your Core
Your core is one of the most important areas of your body to keep in tip top shape. Not only can it help with back pain, it can also help you have a much better posture. If you have a weak or underdeveloped core, it can be difficult to maintain a solid posture as it will take more work. But if your core is developed and strong, it will be a breeze to keep that back straight, shoulders back and have everything in order. If you find yourself struggling from a pesky bad posture problem, it is a good idea to try and work on your core strength and see what kind of help that will be.
