The Art of Self-Confidence

When it comes to self-confident people, they all have qualities that we admire. Whether it be the quiet but confident tech CEO, or the inspiring and loud inspirational speaker or even the media personality who is not afraid to say what they mean. While these are all vastly different individuals in and out, they all share one thing in common, they are self-confident. Self-confidence can have a million different looks and meanings and I’m sure that you have a couple of examples in your head as well. And while we admire these people for their self-esteem and confidence with what they do, a lot of us struggle with our own self confidence.
At its simplest form, self-confidence is basically an assurance that an individual has about their own abilities in life, judgements and more. While the concept enough is easy enough t understand, very few people have self-confidence and that is largely because of doubt and worrying what others think of you. If you are always doubting yourself and your choices in life, you will never get very far in terms of building your self-confidence. And if you are constantly worrying about what others think of you and the things you are doing, you won’t get very far either. This is because that if you require the validation of others to let you know whether what you are doing is right, then you aren’t really confident in your own judgment and are just doing what others suggest.
The first thing you should try and do to become more self-confident is to simply fake it till you make it. While this may sound stupid, it truly does work (though not for everyone obviously). When you fake that you are a self-confident person, everyone around you has no idea that it isn’t real and sees you as a self –confident individual and soon enough, you’ll convince yourself too.
Another way to boost your self-confidence in a big way is to simply improve other areas of your life. Eating better, dressing better, working out and many more simple and beneficial tasks can have the added benefits of making you a more confident person. And also, challenging yourself and stepping out of your comfort zone is big. Growth doesn’t occur where you are comfortable, so challenge yourself to do things you never would have done before and reap the confidence rewards that come with it.
