Of all of the senses out there, our eyesight is perhaps the one people cherish most. And with us straining and using our eyes more than ever to look at computer screens, phones and TVs, they are being fatigued more than ever. But we don’t have to simply sit idly by why our eyesight deteriorates. Here are three simple things you can do to help keep your vision great for longer.
1. Change Your Environment
It’s true, the environment you are in and around can affect the quality of your sight. First and foremost, the rooms you find yourself in should be softly lit and not too bright. If they are, you risk putting unnecessary strain on your eyes all day. Also, keeping the light source behind you is often better than the light being right in front of you. In addition to lights, keeping air quality solid to reduce dry eyes can also go a long way in prolonging good vision.
2. Change Your Diet
It has long been the stuff of legends that eating carrots in great for your eyes, and this is somewhat true. It is actually the vitamin A that comes from carrots that can help keep your vision in tip top shape. Certain antioxidants like lutein and more can actually protect your eyes from the damages of the sun. Other foods that are known to have nutrients that can promote healthy eyes are: blueberries, grapes, fish, leafy greens, garlic and many more.
3. Give Your Eyes a Break
This is something that we all need to be reminded of, but giving our eyes a break are crucial in making sure they are working well. Realistically, you should be giving your eyes a decent break from a screen about once an hour for at least a little bit of time. Also, getting a solid sleep is also hugely beneficial in eye health as it allows eyes to get rest, repair and recover from the strain they take all day.
