Everybody wants to be fit and get to the gym, but the biggest problem facing most people is the motivation factor. A large number of people simply can’t get themselves out of the door and actually go to the gym, and make every excuse in the book as to why they can’t go. Here are three great ways to get motivated to go work out.
1. Promise Yourself a Reward
While this may not be a great way long term, it will for sure get your butt in gear a couple of time to go to the gym. It is no secret that people respond to rewards and this is no difference. After a little while (once you make working out a routine), the rewards won’t have to continue and you will just have workouts as a part of your life every day. These rewards can be anything you want, whatever will get you to go to the gym.
2. Listen to Some Music to Pump You Up
Whether you are tired, lazy or unmotivated in some other way, some great pump up music can really get you excited to go to the gym. Music has a weird way in eliciting different kinds of emotions in people and it is something that truly works. For example, at sad parts in movies, you can almost universally find sad music being played in order to make the viewer feel a certain way. So if you aren’t really feeling the gym but know you should go, firing up some heavy metal or hip hop (or whatever type of music pumps you up) should help you find the motivation that you had deep inside all along.
3. Find a Gym Buddy
The gym can seem like a very daunting and boring task to some. If you feel that way, finding a friend or acquaintance to go to the gym with you can help you find the motivation. If you have a gym buddy who is relying on you not to be flakey about going the gym, you are less likely to miss out. And if you have some fun the first few times working out with your gym buddy, it will help you be motivated going forward as you know it isn’t boring and daunting anymore, it is now fun all while having the benefits of being great for your mind and body.
