Energy bars are advertised as a tool to boost your workouts and your health. Some are even marketed as ‘meal replacement bars’. The trouble with this is that most energy bars you see on the market are only one step removed from a chocolate bar. They’re candy covered, and loaded with sugar. The box often tells us that they’re filled with healthy fiber and protein, and that might be true. There’s just not much else in them, though.

If you want a good boost after your workout or something to get you going in the morning, reach for some Greek yogurt with fruit or cheese and crackers instead.
