And one of the worst things about this stress is that it rears its ugly head out of nowhere and you can’t predict when it will come. There may be times when you find yourself stressed in an inopportune time, and this article will help you get rid of stress quickly in those tough times.

1. Deep Breathing

This one is exceptionally easy to do and can have some extremely rapid and positive results. This really should be the “go to” first step for anyone who is experiencing some inopportune stress and wants to try get rid of it. By just taking ten very deep breaths, it helps to calm you down and put yourself in the moment and get past the stress. Of course, this doesn’t work on everyone perfectly and will depend on the type of stressful situation you are in, but this quick minute long or so exercise can pay off big time if it works for you.

Sometimes, however, you may not want to handle the stress alone by yourself, and that is when you should reach out to family and friends. Most of us have a solid group of family in friends that we can easily reach out to and chat with about our stress. They are always willing to help and sometimes when you are stressed, nothing is better than sitting down and having a talk with a close friend or family member. Of course, you don’t want to constantly take advantage of this to the point where you are asking them every single day. But even if you do, a true friend or family member would be there for you, as they themselves likely know what you are going through as everyone gets stressed every now and then.

Often times, when stress comes around, it can overtake whatever else you are doing and completely occupy your mind. And when you give stress the time of day to take over your mind, your thoughts can begin to spin into a negative cycle that further stresses you out. They key is to slow down these negative thoughts, get back in the moment and don’t let your mind spin out of control. Thinking positively during these times is also a major key as it can stop you from giving yourself more stress and anxiety that stems from those spinning negative thoughts in your head that stress can often bring.
