Most working individuals spend about half of their hours awake at their job. That means that if you like to live a healthy lifestyle, you have to find ways to be healthy at work too or else you will run the risk of potentially ruining your healthy lifestyle with unhealthy choices. Here are four great ways to make your office a healthier environment.

Basically every single office has those pesky snack machines. You know, the ones that you go to out of necessity about 2 or 3 PM when you are hungry and forgot to pack a snack. Pretty much everything inside those machines is awful for you and can ruin an otherwise healthy day. Having a healthier machine installed is a good idea or even just bringing your own healthy snacks from home.

2. Find Ways to Sit Less

Sitting for 8 straight hours a day can be extremely detrimental to your health. Realistically, you should be standing or walking around at least a quarter of your work day. Whether this be taking walks on your breaks, making mandatory walking/standing meetings at work or anything in between, your back will thank you. Also, standing desks are becoming more and more popular and are a very good tool to help with this issue.

That’s right, naps can actually be a viable thing in the office. It is actually a trending ideology to let employees rest up at work sometimes. While, ideally, workers would come into work 100% rested, this isn’t always the case. And a lot of employers are finally learning that it is much better to have employees take some time to recoup at work, than mope around all day half asleep and barely get anything done.

4. Have Some Plants Around

Not only do plants look good and make great decorations in the office, they can actually have some real health benefits as well. Many different kinds of plants can actually clean pollutants out of the air, as they add oxygen into the environment and can filter the air. If cleaning toxins out of the air is another benefit on top of looking beautiful, there is no reason for your office not to have plants.
