Despite never having lice myself, I could imagine it would be a completely annoying and awful experience. These pesky little buggers can linger for a while and be tough to get rid of. It is a good idea to know what to do when you get them, before you actually get them. With that in mind, here are three great tips or ways to get rid of lice.

The name of the game when it comes to lice is to nitpick. Before doing any kinds of treatment or trying to address the problem, you need to meticulously comb your hair and be vigilant about the potential of lice and their eggs elsewhere like clothing and bedding. You simply cannot get rid of lice unless you get rid or each and every little bugger and each and every leg they left behind.

2. Get Ready for a Long Battle

Because of how you have to get rid of every little semblance of the lice, it can take quite a while to get rid of lice for good, where you can not worry about it anymore. While the adult lice are pretty easy to get rid of, it is the eggs (nits) that are incredibly hard. Even if you clean up all the lice, you will have to deal with another whole case of the lice if you leave the eggs. Constantly watching and combing is needed here to make sure you get rid of it all, and it can be a lengthy process.

3. Use a Pediculicide

While there are a ton of different proposed ways to help lice (including many at home remedies), using a pediculicide is among the most tried and true method of eliminating lice. These are designed specifically to get rid of head lice and treat them and are the quickest way to get rid of annoying lice. Not only does this treatment kill the lice themselves, some pediculicides can even kill the eggs. This only needs to be in the hair for around an hour and then can be washed out (using only water, don’t use shampoo for the next two days either).
