Everybody loves going on vacation. But if there is one thing that we don’t like about it, it is that most people gain a couple (or more than a couple) pounds while they are on vacation. Here are three ways you can try and keep yourself healthy an on weight while still enjoying your vacation.
1. Get Active
It is easy for us (when we are on vacation) to simply chill out and relax by the pool and on the beach, while this is definitely okay to do, you should still be sure to get active a little bit while on vacation. Whether this is just to take a few walks on the beach or around the resort or if you want to include full on workouts, getting active is probably one of the best ways to maintain your weight while on vacation.
2. Watch What You Eat
When on vacation, it makes sense to indulge here and there. But there is a difference between indulging every now and then and eating extremely unhealthy for a week straight. Most places you will be vacationing at will provide you with a variety of different options to eat, and you should take advantage of that. This doesn’t mean you cant treat yourself, but make sure to also include some healthy options to give yourself the best chance of not gaining weight while you are on your vacation.
3. Smaller Portions
When you are at a buffet or an all-inclusive resort, it can be very very tempting to fill your plate multiple times to “get your money’s worth” of the delicious food, but is this really the best option? The answer is probably not. By taking smaller portions of food at each meal and supplementing with smaller snacks (preferably healthy) throughout the day, you will help yourself not gain weight. This of course can be difficult if the buffet is delicious or the all-inclusive has great food all day long, but you just have to weigh how much you want to eat those mammoth portions vs how much you don’t want to gain the weight.
