When most people wake up and are on the way to work, they often come armed with a cup of coffee in their hand. This coffee is a universal pick me up for millions every day and its benefits are obvious to those who drink it. However, there are some definite negatives if you drink too much.
1. Can Cause Insomnia
On average, coffee has a six hour half-life and thus takes about 24 hours to work itself all the way through your body. Now, this can vary from person to person based on how well your body can process caffeine. This means that if you are continually downing coffee all day (or even just all morning) like so many people do, you are greatly decreasing the amount you will sleep and the quality of that sleep.
2. You Become Addicted
Whether you believe it or not, you can become addicted to caffeine and millions in America are. According to research, caffeine is quite addictive and people can even have withdrawals from the stuff. And the more you drink over time, the more it will require in the future to get the same effect (like with some other drugs as well). All caffeine really does it boost your performance by a little and then eventually sending you back down to where you were.
3. Numerous Issues With Your Body and It’s Function
Not only is it addicting and can ruin your sleep, but a dependency on coffee or having too much caffeine can have a number of other physiological negative side effects. While moderate amounts of coffee can help liver process well, too much can severely inhibt the ability of the liver to detoxify the body. Other issues too much caffeine can lead to are: rise in blood pressure, increase risk of osteoporosis and give you headaches.
