If you read our article ‘5 Tips For Flawless Skin‘ and couldn’t get enough of it, today is your lucky day. Here are 5 MORE tips for flawless skin that you can implement into your daily skin-care routine today!
1. Exfoliate Regularly
It’s been said that men have better skin and less wrinkles because their razors exfoliate their skin everyday and that if women want to reap these benefits, they should look into finding ways of exfoliating their skin more often! By purchasing a gentle scrub, creating your own DIY product, or using a system like the clarisonic, you’ll be looking more youthful in no time. As an added benefit, your makeup will apply more flawlessly on a smooth canvas.
2. Reduce Stress
Stress is one of the number one causes of problem skin. When we’re stressed and worried, it shows on our faces. By eliminating stress, you’ll also be eliminating those pesky pimples! There’s even a study dedicated to stress and it’s effects on our skin called Psychodermatogy. When we’re stressed our body releases cortisol, a hormone that can increase the skin’s oil production which can cause acne and other skin problems. There are many ways to relax and de-stress but we recommend going for a quick walk, taking time to breathe deeply, take a social media break, read a bool, play some of your favorite music, talk to your friends and family, practice yoga, and/or do something you love to do! When you reduce the stress in your life, your skin will improve in no time!
3. Never pop/pick a pimple
Never ever ever ever pop/pick a pimple. EVER. When pick at a pimple, you’re exposing it to bacteria from your hands which negatively impacts the healing process and can actually cause an infection which could produce even more skin problems for you. Aside from making the pimple worse, you could actually end up with a scar on your face as a result of picking at it while it was trying to heal itself! If you have a problem leaving your pimple alone, apply a bandage over it while you’re hanging around at home so you won’t be tempted to touch it. Your blemish will heal much faster when you leave it alone.
4. Avoid products with lots of chemicals
While that $48 dollar moisturizer that’s said to be ‘the best on the market’ may seem like something you just need to have, be sure to always check the label for harmful ingredients, because while it may hydrate your skin for the meantime it can be doing a lot of damage to your skin in the long-run. Some ingredients to avoid in your favorite skin care products are, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, cosmetic fragrance, sodium lauryl sulfate, diazolidnyl urea, to name a few! Always try to substitute all-natural products such as oils (like coconut, jojoba, olive, argan, avocado, sesame, tea tree), extracts (like peppermint, and lavender), vinegars (like apple cider), juices from fruits (like lemon), etc.
5. Get plenty of sleep
They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing! Sleep is another factor that greatly impacts our overall health and therefore, the health of our skin! Always be sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep nightly with as many hours before midnight as possible in order to get the optimal amount of rest to benefit your skin. When we’re sleeping, our body is repairing and recovering itself and our skin is producing collagen! When we lose sleep, the first thing to be affected is our skin! Through the repairing, restoring and production of collagen when we get enough sleep, our skin will reap the benefits and appear smoother, brighter, and less red and inflamed!
