In the present day, it is not uncommon for people to work much more than the standard 40 hours a week. With people working this much, there is a good chance that their home lives and social lives are suffering. 1. Prioritize
This is important and will be different for everyone. Your life is yours, simple as that. Not your bosses, not your families, not your friends. So you need to figure out what your biggest priorities are in life and decide how much time you want to allot to each area of your life. This is basically a way to identify your ideal work life balance. BY identifying these priorities, you will feel as if you are dedicating the right amount of time to each of the different areas of your life.
2. Make Time for Downtime
Oftentimes, when we lead busy lives, the first time that we will give up in favor of work, hanging out with friends or other things is our own personal downtime. But this isn’t always a good thing as everyone needs some “me” time to relax and wind down after a hectic day. By actually scheduling this downtime or refusing to give it up easily, you can help yourself to have a better work/life balance.
3. Set Boundaries
In today’s technology driven world, the line between our work lives and our personal lives can become blurred. Your phone, laptop and more can connect you to your work and can sometimes lead you to work on your personal time, which is okay every now and then, just not always. It’s a good idea to set your phone and computer aside for a while and enjoy some real time with friends, family or doing what you want without being distracted.
