With springtime officially here, people everywhere are experiencing stuffy noses from allergies and other stimuli which makes breathing and going through day to day life without sniffling and sneezing nearly impossible. Having a blocked or stuffed up nose is one of the worst feelings out there and makes you yearn for the days with clean airways. Here are three tips to help clear that stuffy nose for good.

One of the first methods you should try to clear up the ol nose is to utilize steam. This can be done in a number of ways such as using a humidifier or taking a hot shower. The steam helps to reduce the mucus and can reduce the inflammation that could potentially be present. In addition to reducing the fluid in the nose and clearing it up, it can help you return your breathing to normal, which is beneficial.

2. Clear the Pathway

Though steam can help a lot, sometime it just isn’t enough to get rid of that pesky and annoying stuffed up nose. If this is the case, you may need to move on to ways to manually and more aggressively clear your nose. While some people may reach for a nasal spray or just blowing their nose every half hour, there is a better way. Using a neti pot is a great way to effectively clear your sinuses, but can be a bit aggressive and strange for some.

3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

If you are ever sick or stuffed up, keeping well hydrated all day long is a great move. Almost all liquids can help you in these cases such as water, sports drinks and even juices. These can not only thin out your mucus and push the fluids out of your nose, but they can also decrease the pressure in your nose. If you also are having a sore throat, some warm herbal tea can be a double whammy as it’ll help both your stuffy nose and sore throat at once.
