Life on the go can be an incredibly positive experience. As well as opening a whole set of new doors, it can expose us to new opportunities, exciting projects and creative outlooks that we might not have experienced otherwise. There is a flipside to the situation, however, and while we might be able to realize more of our dreams and meet new people, we might start to overlook the ways in which we treat our body. Living while working can soon result in healthy eating falling by the wayside and after a few weeks of eating sugary snacks and greasy meals, you might start to feel the side effects.
That is, until now. You should be able to make the most out of any situation that life throws at you, regardless of how it might interfere with your routine. These healthy, portable snacks might not seem much but over time, they could just make your on the go routine a whole lot more healthy.
- Trail Mix
Thought that trail mix was suitable just for children’s lunch boxes? Think again. Packed full of healthy fiber, protein and fatty acids, trail mix is one of the best ways of kicking hunger to the curb when you’re working on the go and sticking to a healthy routine, too. Try keeping a sealed bag of mixed fruits and nuts in your bag for when you know you will be out and about; when hunger calls, you will always be prepared.
- Pumpkin Seeds
While nuts might be your go to snack of choice, there’s a great deal of goodness in seeds and where healthy foods fare, you can’t get much better than pumpkin seeds. Packed full of fiber and zinc, these tiny seeds can help to keep your immune system fighting, wherever you are, so you can focus on what really matters. Just leave the seeds to dry for a day or two and take a bag on the go.
- Edamame Poppers
Looking for something a little bit different? Edamame beans are a great way to get your protein fix on the go. Simply steam the beans for a few minutes or pop them in the microwave before eating. Afterwards, it’s up to you to open the beans up, scoop them from their beds and enjoy them on the go. Simple!
- Fruity Parfait
Cooling down on the go can be a real struggle but with this fresh parfait, you will be able to handle any situation that comes your way. Mixing Greek yogurt with a handful of frozen fruit and a drizzling of honey, this healthy snack tastes like a rich, creamy treat. If you want a little extra crunch, try topping off your parfait with a little granola; it’s bound to have you coming back for more.
- Toasted Quinoa
Quinoa might just be the superfood to end all superfoods. Naturally gluten free and high in iron, quinoa comes packed with a whole load of health benefits to keep things topped up while you’re on the go. Simply mix the grain with shredded coconut, flax and maple syrup and lightly toast over a low heat. You can store the mix in a bag, or add it to a pot of low fat yogurt.
