5 Surprising Everyday Causes of Acne

If you’ve ever experienced acne and have tried ‘literally everything’ to treat it, you may need to look at some everyday objects and activities that could be the culprit of all of your skin troubles.
Cellphone
Your cellphone is the main culprit of acne (especially on the cheek area) as it spreads bacteria from surfaces, and your hands onto your face. To combat this bacteria, consider carrying antibacterial wipes to quickly clean your phone on-the-go.
Shower water
The metals and minerals found in the water we shower in can also be causing problems for our skin, to avoid this, consider purchasing a water filter.
Coffee
Coffee can mess with the pH of of bodies (not to mention the effect of all of the added sugars we use) therefore affecting the health of our skin. Consider switching coffee for tea to improve both your skin health and your overall health.
Makeup brushes and sponges
When we don’t clean our brushes/sponges as often as we should, bacteria collects within them and spreads to our faces after each use. Be sure to clean your makeup brushes once a week and your sponges after every use to ensure flawless skin.
Experimenting with a high volume of different makeup products
As a skin and hair writer, I’m as guilty (if not more guilty) than the next gal when it comes to trying out a ton of beauty products. The problem with this is that we’re constantly exposing our skin to new chemicals and ingredients. Before trying new makeup, try to wait a few weeks between products in order to assess what your skin likes and what it doesn’t.
