High blood pressure is something that can be very dangerous and should be taken very seriously. In fact, it can have a role in up to 15% of deaths in the USA in any given year. With that in mind, here are three great ways to lower blood pressure if it is high. Of course, medication is also a big help, but we assume you have already gotten that taken care of so it won’t be included on this list.

When you have high blood pressure, it is imperative you are checking it extremely often to make sure it is in a healthy range. Monitoring your blood pressure is also a great way to gauge whether the steps you are taking to lower it are working or not. Something that worked for someone may not work for you and vice versa, so keeping tabs on where your levels are is a huge help in the overall lowering of your blood pressure over time.

I know, this is often much easier said than done, but keeping stress levels low and controllable can be a huge help in keeping blood pressure levels under control. Both chronic and occasional stress can contribute to a higher blood pressure so being proactive as opposed to reactive when it comes to stress is always a good idea. Even just taking a few minutes out of your day to meditate of be with your thoughts can help you big time.

As it is with almost any negative ailment, exercise can be a huge help in lower blood pressure and being an overall healthier person. Blood pressure often increases as weight increase so if you are able to shed a few pounds, your blood pressure will thank you. And this doesn’t mean you have to go crazy with workouts but even a nice half hour walk or a little swim in a pool can really help you out.
